Timex Watch (here!)

Time is more valuable to me than money. It seems like most of the decisions we make involve what we should devote our time to. What should we make time for? We spend so much time during our day reacting to different situations and we don’t spend enough time choosing what to react to.

So how can we make this right? Here are the 3 steps I took to make sure I make time for what matters:

  1. Know Your Goals. Make a list of your top three goals for 1 day, 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, and your lifetime goals.
  2. Compare Short Term vs. Long Term Goals. Look through the list and see if your goals for today are helping you achieve your lifetime goals.
  3. Do they match? If your goals match, congratulations! If not, choose goals in the short term that match your lifetime goals.

I don’t know about you but I have some serious work to do. But knowing my lifetime goals gives me a filter for every task and every action I choose to do today. When too many things are fighting for my time, I step back and remember what my lifetime goals are. I won’t remember the little tasks that are stressing me out today. I hope to remember the time I spent with family and a lifetime of creating things that I’m proud of.

What are your lifetime goals?
